Per your collective recommendations I just got a WJ3. Does it really need a screen protector to keep the keys from rubbing against the screen? Will a clear plastic protector negatively affect the glossy clear screen? Can you recommend a brand that stays on well? I'd just as soon not get one unless it's really worth it.

Any other accessories I should get?

    Thanks for all your help!

With the exception of dust, I personally haven't noticed anything dirty on my screen or anything. I don't have a screen protector.

However, should you choose to purchase one, I believe that screen protector technology these days is good enough to not negatively affect the glossy screen. I have a screen protector for my phone that works perfectly and I can't even tell it's on there. Just make sure you don't get one of those cheap glue-based adhesive ones and get a decent quality one that uses silicone or something of the sort and it should be ok.

An alternative is simply to get a piece of microfiber cloth and lay that on top of your keyboard to cover it before you close the laptop.

Get a ShaggyMac screen protector. Search for it and you will find lots of info about it on this site.

If you're worried about the screen coming on contact with the keyboard, why not get a Keyboard Protector instead?

Unless you're planning to be yelling coarse language and spitting over a video conference, the microfiber cloth is the most economical.
