Does anyone know how a MS Wedge keyboard is turned on/off by the stand?

Question as title. The cover-stand adds a colossal 200g (0.45lbs) to the keyboard and I'd really rather travel without it. I guess I could just eject the battery compartment but I was wondering if there was a way of replicating how the cover turns off the keyboard some other way.

I'm really tempted to look for that ufo scientist picture with caption "Magnets".

I'd start by running a magnet where the dock connects.

Yeah - it appears to be either light or magnets. Not going to bother - will just keep ejecting the battery compartment.
(And rekindle my search for an alternative 'full' mobile keyboard').

For some bizarre reason (I really don't know why) the majority of the actually lightweight folding keyboards out there require you to resort to the same digit contortions as a touch keyboard since they all lack a number row.
