Just checking around the threads and I noticed that some plp uses 17 inch notebook coolers for their 15 inch notebooks. I just ordered the Zalman NC1000 for me xps m1530 and am questioning my decision now.

So is it better to go with the larger notebook cooler? does it cool better regardless of what size notebook you stick on it?

Will I be okay with the Zalman NC 1000 for my xps 1530 since its a little bit on the large side for a 15'4

If you ever want to take your cooler with you, good luck fitting a 17" cooler in the bag with your 15" laptop.

yeh thats true but its cooler will be sitting on my desk all the time and thats the only time when I'll use it. If the 17 inch cooler cools better I might send the one I ordered back for the 17 inch version. But if it doesnt make that big of a difference, I'll prefer to save the room and stick with the 15 inch cooler.

I have a 15 inch notebook and just ordered the zalman 1000. But since everyone here have the 2000 Im wondering if its just a coincidence that everyone have 17 inch notebooks or if the 2000 just cools better.

Did i make the wrong decision to purchase the zalman 1000?

The Zalman NC1000 will make your laptop stick out on the two sides.. it fits a standard 15" perfectly but a 15.4" will definitely stick out abit, which is really not nice.. I wished that Zalman refined 1 for the 15.4"s.. like call it the Zalman NC1500 :D

Dude, it is fine. My gf has a 15.4 Sager NP2092 with an NC1000, and it fits perfect. The footprint of most laptops is less than the surface area of the screen area. Look where the actual rubber feet on the laptop sit. As long as all the feet are on the surface, it is fine.

The NC-2000 is obviously the newer model, and must have fixed some of the problems with the 1000. And since the 2000 is only a few dollars more than the 1000, most people would rather get the newer version.

SORRY THIS IS X2P FORGOT TO LOG MY GF OUT!

Its actually really not that bad points to review... I did it for hours.

Honestly DO NOT EXPECT a major change.. The XPS 1530 design is just terrible for any notebook cooler

It only notices VERY slight differences if any with a cooler from most peoples reports regardless of the cooler.

I have the NC1000 and use it with my 15.4" Asus M50sv. I wanted something that would fit in my carrying case and the NC2000 was to big. Obviously the 2000 will provide more cooling but the 1000 gives me a GPU heat reduction of about 4c under load.

It does hang off about .5 inches on each side horizontally but it is very stable. There is more than enough room vertically.

Just want to know if plugging your computer into a cooling pad prevents your own laptop fans from working

no, it just provides aditional cooling but since most likely a cooling pad would cool ur computer enough, there is no need for the native fans to come on

Quite common sense. If the fans turn on when your cpu reachs 60 and you have a cooler.. keeping it below 60 yoru fans arnt comming on.
