    I am about to buy a logitech v470 bluetooth mouse. But is it true that you cannot use bluetooth devices when wifi is on?

    False. You can use Bluetooth and WiFi at the same time without a problem.

    Early bluetooth adapters did interfere a bit with wireless signals, and vice-versa (which is why many notebooks originally wouldn't allow you to have both on at the same time), but current adapters seem to function just fine with little-to-no cross-talk between them.

    Agreed. I use a bluetooth mouse with my laptop while the wireless is on without any problems at all. (btw, Microsoft Bluetooth Laser Mouse 5000 highly recommended)

    @flipfire:

    I'm pretty sure it does, but that doesn't mean there can't be interference. It's a different enough band that cross-talk is kept to a minimum, but there's always going to be some amount of interference between different electronic signals, wireless or otherwise, as my cell-phone proves to me on an annoyingly regular basis whenever I lay it near my VOIP speakerphone :D.

    It should work perfectly fine as long as your area isn't bloated with 2.4GHz signals.

    I'm curious as to whether it does or not...

    When I am transferring a huge file over my local network using wireless, my bluetooth mouse (microsoft bt mouse 5000) lags.

    Bluetooth runs at the same frequency, but it's very low-powered and it jumps around many, many times a second so there's not going to be interference. One of the main points about bluetooth is it's interoperability with other wireless technologies.
