Thanks for the reply. The only Samsumg I can find (new) at that price is the 2433BW. The sammy has 1920 x 1200 as opposed to 1920 x 1080 for the Acer...but the response time for the Acer is 2ms vs. 5ms for the Sammy. And the Sammy does not have HDMI. Oh and the Acer's contrast ratio is 40000:1 compared to 20000:1 for the Sammy. Other than that they are pretty much the same.

I have been doing a lot of gaming lately, and watching DVD (no blue-ray). I am confused as to what slight differences matter...but is Acer that much inferior to Samsung?

No I don’t think so. I couldn't find any detailed reviews for it, most probably because it is new. So I don't have any idea about the quality. Not all monitors from Samsung are good either, and there are few pretty good Acer monitors out there too. So it depends..

BTW, don’t be fooled by the dynamic contrast ratio, real ratio is more like 1000:1. In gaming you might see a slight difference due to response time.

    Thanks Phoenix.

I went ahead and ordered it. More than contrast ratio, my favorite features about this monitor were the response time and the fact that it supports all three (VGA, HDMI and DVI) hookups and comes with all three cables. I will be using the monitor with a DVI connection, but will be testing it with the VGA connection as well. If I am happy with it on my desktop (DVI) then I will probably order another for my notebook (no DVI support)... I like the looks of it as well...
