Hey everyone. I have an Asus F9S, which has a dedicated GFX card and a single VGA Out port.
It has dual monitor support. Is it possible to get two external monitors to work on this? I all ready have 1 20 inch Acer external monitor, but I am looking to add a second external so that I can have the full dual monitor setup, as it will be very helpful for my work.
I've bought a VGA out splitter as well, but all I get when I connect two monitors together is the same display on each

Is there anything I can do? (or did I just waste $15 on this splitter)

What I have done is use my laptop's monitor as one screen (which is only 12 inches) and my 20" monitor as a second screen. Is there some way I can just display my laptop's screen onto one of the external monitor and have a second monitor?

I don't know if you've tried this, but if you right click your desktop, go to desktop settings, and then desktop properties(this depends on whether you have Vista or XP) you should be able to disable and enable the different monitors. Just check "extend my desktop onto this monitor" for everyone.

My laptop has a PCI-express slot available in it. Is there some addon I can put in, like one of those PCI-e Video cards in there to get an additional external monitor (non mirrored)?
I'm looking to get two external monitors going on my laptop.
Also, I'm not looking to buy a DualHead2Go addon for my laptop. Just some cheap $20 PCI-Express card that will give me a 1024*1280 display.

No, that is not working. The only time that will work is when you use your notebook's display as one of the displays in the dual monitor set up. By using the VGA Y Splitter, all I'm doing is splitting up the same output into two different monitors (mirrored). In order to get two individual displays, what I need to do is connect the vga cables of the two monitors to two separate VGA outputs.

External gpu cards run in the hundreds of $$, if you want to run 2 dedicated display.

I use a VTBook Multi Display card that allows me to use up to 4 independent monitors. But it would set you back 200-300$$

    cheers ...
