I cannot make the Belkin Easy Transfer Cable work properly. It starts okay, sets up fine. But after it has been working for a while it encounters a file it says is in use (odd, a video file buried deep in a sub folder which hasn't been used in more than a year) and can't be moved. It then prompts to press "Continue" to skip that file and move on. But it won't. It just then sits there forever until I kill the process.

I've tried it twice with different choices for transfers. The first time it hung on a sound file it said was in use.

    Any suggestions?

Do you have any video programs running at startup, for example quicktime? Go to run and type msconfig and post the boxes that are checked in the startup tab. Also can you post the name of the file with the extension. Example video.wmv

    I'll check that. Thanks.

I just heard from a colleague who was struggling with "easy" transfer with and without the cable. Her solution finally was to disable her spyware program. So perhaps taking the computers offline and disabling antivirus and antimalware programs would help as well.

If I run into a specific file reference again I will post it here.

Yeah that's what I was getting to by the startup programs. Good luck!
