I hear that the adapter you need so you can plug into an airplane seat plug is called an Empower plug. Is this true? Also, are they all universal or each adapter is made for a specific laptop? I plan on taking a long flight and would like to be able to use my laptop on the plane. Unfortunately my battery is only 6 cell so it wont last long. Any other suggestions would be great, thanks!

Yes that's true but be aware that most carriers don't provide it in the Economy Class....

Yes, EmPower is the in-seat power supply system used on airplanes.

You can use any universal notebook adapter that comes with an EMPOWER connector.

Unfortunately, most older airplanes do not have EMPOWER connector in economy/coach cabins. New airplanes have started providing regular 110 VAC three socket connector even in the economy/coach cabins. Check with your airline for more details.

Dell Slim Auto/Air/AC Adapter is recommended for select Dell Latitude, Inspiron, XPS, Vostro notebooks and Precision Mobile WorkStations. You can check out the pictures and review here.
