Hi guys! I have three 2,5" HDDs taken from old notebooks that I use for external storage. I know that there are many USB3 enclosures for hard drives on the market, but since I have multiple hard disks I was wondering if you know about some kind of "box", or enclosure, which can hold multiple hard disks in just one device. Do you know if such a device does even exist?
It would be great for me, because in this way
1) I wouldn't have to buy three separate enclosures
2) even if I bought just one enclosure, I would have to buy some kind of "case" to hold safely the other HDDs and to protect them. So storing them all in one device would serve also as a protection
If you know about such a tool, or if you think there are better strategies to hold and use multiple notebook hard disks, any suggestion is appreciated!

I have an ICY BOX that houses two 2.5" HDDs. It's similar to this:
If you need an enclosure for more than two drives, i think you should look into either a backplane, a nas or a thunderbolt external enclosure. -
For new drives replaced by SSDs etc., yes. For old drives, not so much. Its just not worth it to get a new enclosure for multiple drives just to put old drives in it IMO. Its a false since of security with a failure ready to happen.
Perhaps you might want to consider a dock as an alternative, and only as a secondary back up for non-critical data. -
Not necessarily. I have a couple of the Icy Box RAID boxes (cheaper JBOD models are available). Obviously for 3.5" drives but also obviously you can use a carrier adapter.

The fan is a bit cheap and rattly but it's easily replaced with a Noctua or something. -

Thanks for answers guys! Wow, those are pretty big stuff, and they look expensive too. Maybe it's better to go with the simplest and cheapest solution, buying multiple HDD enclosures..

Krane is right about the dock. You can have a cheap dock you can easily swap out the old drives on. Also you don't need anything to protect the old drives.

Do you have some suggestions for reasonable priced docks?

Something like this maybe? It appears to be one of the cheaper USB3/eSATA (re: eSATA, read the caveat on the product page) 4-bay docks. Don't know anything about it, but seems suspiciously similar (so basically a 'less branded' version of the same thing) to the JBOD version of the Icy Dock I linked earlier. You can pay a bit more and get RAID.

I had needed an enclosure for some time so I went ahead and ordered the MiniPro 2-Bay FireWire 800, USB 3.0, eSATA RAID Hard Drive Enclosure.
I found out just a few days later that its also available under the Monoprice label for $82.
