Is this cooler good? It is originally $40 but it is now $5 after MIR on Newegg. That as me a little bit suspect of it's quality if they are discounting it so much. Shipping would cost more ($7.92) than the item costs. lol

I got it for my 11.1 inch notebook. Its way too big for it tho... BUT its super quiet.

Here's a review from this forum
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=314336 -
wow, enermax must want to get rid of them fast... last month there was a $30 rebate..
ill pick one up prob xD -
So should I get this? For a total of $12.91 (after shipping) I can get this. I can't really afford to drop $50-60 on a Zalman. This still works pretty well doesn't it? Does anyone else have a DV5t and use this?
Also, does anyone know which way the fan blows? I assume it blows up.
And Enermax is a company that has been around for a while I think, so they should be good for the mail in rebate? -
-
Thanks for posting this Rogue!
I just ordered mine
I saw on that review thread that someone with a sager 8660 has been using it and he really likes it, so i decided to pick it up. Even if it isn't as good as
the zalman 2000, with the $35 rebate... the bang for buck factor is excellent. -
So far all the reviews I read online doing a google search and on here, half the people say it works well, the other half say it doesn't work...
-
i want to buy it for my dv5t, but without an assurance it seems like wasted money. no cooler seems to a be a good fit. zalman is expensive and the notebook will need to be off the cooler( further down than normal) to ensure cooling... the cooler master infinite is apparently fairly loud in usage, and this has mixed reviews....from no cooling effect to great results.
frustration is only certain when shopping
maybe ill pick this up for the dv5t -
When they should really only use for laptops with a lot of holes on the bottom:
-
So since I see it in your signature I guess you like it?
Here is the bottom of the DV5T:

Thanks. Nice to see someone say something positive about it.
What do you think about the rebate? Do you think there will be any problems with them making good on it?
It seems kind of sketchy, bad grammar on the rebate form (It says Manufacture Mail In Rebate instead of Manufacturer) and there is no phone number to contact if there is a rebate question, just an e-mail address. -
If you do not have a high performance laptop this cooler is great for the price, if you game and have most of your hardware in the rear this will not help you much. I had to return mine
-
Would my laptop be considered "high performance"?
The DV5t has most of the hardware in the back and some in the middle. -
no,your dv5t will work fine with it
-
All right then. I'll order it later tonight.
-
Sweet. I am just about to order and thought I would take a look at live.com and sure enough there is cashback available. It is only 2.75% cashback ($1.10) going through Newegg but I thought I should still share this information.
So total cost out of pocket including shipping and after rebate and cashback: $11.81. -
Cool,
I can't wait to try mine out. My sager 8660 ships out tomorrow! (Hopefully) -
Oh, does anyone know if there any hassles with the Enermax rebate, does Newegg have anything to do with it (like if I was denied the rebate or something) or does Newegg not have any affiliation with them? I would think they do since they are a vendor of that company and even display a $35 rebate right on their webpage.
I am just really paranoid about rebates. I wish there was an easier way to do this stuff. They count on half of the rebates getting lost in the mail, not postmarked on time, or people plain forgetting about them. -
Hey Everyone,
Just wanted to let you know that my cooler just arrived today!
It looks pretty slick, even though i would have liked a bit more of air movement from the fan, for only $11, I am pleased.
My sager 8660 gets here tomorrowI'll post some info about the cooling later.
-
Good to hear! Mine should be arriving tomorrow. I'll definitely do some cooling tests when I can.
-
Mine arrived right after I left for class about an hour ago (saw on tracking). I will try it out when I get home and I will do some temperature changes reports sometime next week.
-
Wow, very impressed so far. Although you would be fooled by the air movement from the fan. I turned it on and went "uh, is it on?" It is very quiet and fits the DV5 perfectly.
Without the cooler (with the back of the notebook raised up about an inch), my GPU would stay at 70-71C when playing GTAIV. After playing for a good half hour, my max GPU temp was only 63C! I was impressed. Further tests will be done.
Edit (Pictures):
-
Can the fan be unscrewed and moved? if so, is the cord long enough for the fan to be moved to the right bottom corner?
-
...And im not usre the power cable is long enough anyway. :/
And also, anyone who gets and tests the cooler, could you please post your results in my thread? So i can add to the main review? Thanks
