I want to replace my HP Photosmart D110a with a better printer for just about everything. I've been drawn to a particular 4 printers for sale on Amazon. The Epson 545, 645, WF-2540, and WF-3520. Saving money on prints is something I'd definitely like. Having a high capacity tray is also a nice convenience. The big feature I'm interested in is the Auto Document Feeder and duplex. I've tried searching reviews and watching videos but there is limited information on these or at least answering the specific questions I have. I want to be able to easily save digital copies of a lot of paperwork and documentation. Ranging from medical to university classwork. This means 8.5x11 printer paper and 8.5x11 loose leaf college ruled paper (< especially this).

I don't know much of how an ADF works but my understanding is you just load the paper, choose the setting, and it scans and saves everything in the tray. With loose leaf paper (pulled out of spiral notebooks for notes) this would be extremely useful for saving time in scanning if it is able to take a handful of pages and automatically scan both sides and save the files for me instead of having to individually do each page and side like I currently have to do. File size is also important. Using default settings and grayscale only, each page still comes up at about 2MB on my current printer. When you're scanning a whole notebook worth of pages, this is way too large of a file.

Anyone have any experience with these printers or some other printer that they recommend? How is the ADF function on it and the software for it? As for budget the WF-3520 is pushing it at $130. I'd prefer to go lower.

    Thanks for the help!

I have an "Epson WorkForce WF-3540DTWF" i paid £199 for it, The automatic document reader only accepts Ltr and A4 and Lgl whatever that is, no other sizes are accepted, though you can manually scan these on the flatbed, I have scanned multiple pages to PDF and JPEG and it works great.

If you try an print a double sided document, it will be reduced in size as it has to have a boarder of approx 5mm on the left and right side for the printer to pull the paper though the printer, singe sided can be full size.

A five page text b/w A4 document scanned to pdf is approx 6.9mb but this can vary depending on colour and content, a scan to jpeg is for A4 is black/white 1.33mb , color 1.45mb

    A4 colour Printer test page JPEG b/w = 1.03 mb , color = 1.12mb , the same page to PDF is b/w = 248kb , color = 1.12mb massive difference though the b/w pdf is very poor.

I have not used the printer a lot, hence i dont have a lot of info

    Sorry for the mess.

I bought a set of refilable cartriges for £15 off ebay and some ink, £6 for 100ml of each colour should fill the cardtrige over five times.
