Case, without a doubt. I couldn't live without mine. If you are going to be moving your computer from one place to another (which is the idea) then a case is essential. If all you are going to do is move your computer from one part of the house to another, it's not needed, but if you are like me (and a huge portion of laptop users), then you take your computer with you everywhere you go.

An external harddrive is also a great bonus. I plan on getting one, once prices start to drop. I like to play games, but usually in the car. I can install the games on my harddrive, bring it along if I'm going to be gone for a long period of time, and I'm all set. It's also great for movies and music. I used to have a 200 gig external drive for my desktop and I had backed a ton of movies up on it. I just transfered them over to my notebook for access while I was away, and moved them back when I was done. Too bad it quit working.

#1 Case for sure. I use the Targus Overnighter II. Looks like an overnight bag but holds my notebook, wireless kb,mouse, Router, Files, AND MY GIN![xx(] (just kiddin)

#2 Notebook Surge Protection. The 2nd best friend your notebook has besides its user![ :)]
