I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FZ180E/B and the sound is just horrible through the speakers.
I was wondering if there's a good USB or ExpressCard34 sound card for a laptop (one that has center, front and rear speaker support) =).
This is my first laptop, and wanted to connect it to my PCs speaker system since my PC is outdated and can't play games or videos well.
Thanks

You'd need a Express Card 54
ExpressCard Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme
or a PCMCIA card
Creative Audigy2 ZS Notebook -
Creative has some good external USB sounda cards.

My Sony Vaio doesn't have ExpressCard 54 =(, only 34.
What's a good USB soundcard that works with Windows Vista and has 5.1 (center/front/rear ports and inputs?) -
Is the Audigy 2 NX good, and will it accept an Xbox 360 optical signal? Also, will it work with Windows Vista?
Thanks -
Can't you just connect speakers to headphone out? I have FZ, and while FZ speakers are awful, its headphone out is actually pretty good - much better than Creative's soundblaster USB I had. Although, I tend to consider 5.1channel speaker setup to be a gimmick, so I don't need rear channel output...
If money is non-issue, then you can connect external DAC through HDMI, as well.
ExpressCard 34 Sound
