    Extended Warranty for external Hard Drive?

    With the stock warranty if the thing stops working within 3 years you get it replaced. If you buy the extended warranty, if it stops working in the 4th or 5th year after you purchase it, you'll get it replaced by Newegg instead of the Manufacturer.

    It's not worth it. They won't replace your lost data, only the drive. You probably won't still be using it after 3 years anyway. By that time, terabyte hard drives will be commonplace.
