    External Blu-ray drive? Buying from newegg

    Hello, I'm looking for a good quality but decently priced external blu-ray drive. I'm investing in one of these because I have to backup large amounts of data, and don't want to backup to 4gb/8gb kind of discs.

    If you can give your recommendation please post the link to the one you think it good

    And note that if backing up important data to BlueRay, we absolutely do not know how long they will last. So backing up to hard drives is good too.

    If you buy quality blu-ray discs they should last several decades if stored in proper conditions. Of course it depends on whether he's trying to make back-ups or archival back-ups.

    Pioneer offers the standard blu-ray drive. But the 205 is only rated at 2X burn for blu-ray. There is a newer model (206) out that is faster but I haven't been keeping up so I can't say for sure how much faster.
