Its not too late...you can replace the plastic palm wrest with one that has it...but i think they are kind of a waste. I woudl not go with an external. Why not just save your passwords in your browser?

I have a fingerprint reader built into my dv5t and I don't even use it.

It works great, always recognizes on the first swipe, but I never really use it.

No, you save your passwords. Clearing your cookies does not delete your saved passwords. This is the case for both firefox and internet explorer. I am sure other browsers are the same.

I've always wondered if the fingerprint readers actually work or not or if they were actually worth my time. Subscribed!

Microsoft makes an external one I believe. For the convenience of password management, an external one will work well, but for security, less so.
