    Hey all,

I having problems w/ my external HD lately. Last week, it started the problem. All I did was connect the external HD to my laptop to do weekly backup, then all of the sudden, boom, blue screen of death that lasted only fraction of a second, then my laptop reboots. I know it isn't my laptop cause I have bluetooth USB device, and before you asked, yes, I have tried to remove that device, but it didn't work. Any idea what is going on here? My external hard drive was custom built, w/ my old laptop's HD and enclosure.

    TIA.

    JC

With some luck, I managed to use my external hard drive on my laptop.

How do I reset the MBR on my laptop?

Resetting MBR will delete your data. You'll lost your backups

You can use HITACHI Disk Diagnostic tool

Hmmm I don't want to do that...is there another way? Like removing the driver and then just let Window install the driver again? If not, bummer.
