Hello Everyone
This is my first thread in this forum. I am really looking for information which I could not get over the internet and I was looking for it from last two days.
I bought one new external Hard Disc USB 3.0 (1 TB) for my Samsung 3D Plasma. I connected it with my Laptop and copied all films to it to run it on 3D Plasma. But the problem is that Samsung is not detecting this external hard disc. Then I came to know that this model of Samsung only detects removable storage USB drives. I checked my external drive in Disk Management which is coming as "Basic Drive" but not as Removable Storage. When I connect my 8 GB USB, it comes under Removable Storage. So How can i convert my External Hard Drive from Basic to Removable Storage.
Appreciate your help
Thanks

The tv probably only reads FAT formatted usb sticks as removable, most usb external drives ship formatted as NTFS (which is better anyway).

So what is it that you want to do that you cannot under those conditions? In other words, is there an operational issue that you need to satisfy or is this purely an aesthetic issue? Sometimes changing the port can change how its read?

I have Samsung 3D Plasma "51E490" which can read NTFS. I have 8GB flash drive formatted to NTFS which is working perfect with that Plasma TV but 1 TB external HDD is not working. The only difference is that when I connect 1 TB with my laptop, the external drive comes under "Hard Disc Drive" whereas when I connect 8 GB flash drive, it is coming under "Devices with Removable Storage". So this is why I am looking if I can convert my Hard Disc Drive to Removable Storage Flash Drive

This is not an aesthetic issue, this is purely operational issue. I can not run my 3D movies from external drive to Samsung Plasma 3D TV. That TV is supporting Flash Drives but not basic hard drives. So I am looking if I can convert my Basic Hard Disc to Removable Flash Drive.

I'm gonna ask a "stupid" but important question, does the drive receive enough power from the TV's USB to actually spin, your problem could be as simple as that assuming it's a portable 2.5" HDD. If it's a 3.5" that has an external power source (outlet) then that isn't the problem.

Well I am not sure about this whether its getting enough power from TV to spin the Hard Disc. A Flash Drive of 8 GB is working fine but HDD is not working. E-Manual of TV says that "HDD connected with USB will not work" so I am not sure if external HDD will work with this TV or not.

The owner's manual specifically states that the TV is not capable of reading data from an external hard disk drive. Yet this is exactly what you're trying to do. What's not to get?
