Previously, I had two 2TB Western Digital Green drives each in their own Antec MX-1 enclosure. They were initially formatted with drive paths F: and G: in NTFS using my old laptop, an Asus G51vx. Never had any issues with them, even when they were connected with one in USB2.0 and eSATA.

Now comes along my MSI GX660R with 2 USB 3.0 ports. I get this INEO enclosure to take advantge of that. I remove the HDDS from the Antecs and put them both into the Ineo, set the Ineo to single-disk behavior (so it won'T RAID them) and plug it in. I start my computer, enter the OS, and then start up the enclosure.

Only one disk shows up in My Computer (The G: drive, if that means anything). I go to Disk Management, and the second drive is offline with the error "The Disk is offline because it has a redundant path with another device." Event Viewer gives me error ID 59 (originating from partmgr) "Disk 3 will not be used because it is a redundant path for disk 2."

So... I reboot my computer, and when I enter my OS I see both disks both in My Computer and Disk Management. If I remove the enclosure (using the "remove hardware safely" procedure, of coure) and restart it, I get the disk pathing error.

So, is there anything I can do? I did like the idea of hotswap, but if I turn on the enclosure within the OS I can't see both drives. Halp. Let me know if I left out any information.

Specs are as you see below. OS is Win7 HP. I have the latest Intel IRST drivers and whatever USB 3.0 drivers came on the drivers disc.

    Sigh. I really should RTFM.

Looks like the solution is to hold down on the "SET" button the enclosure has for a few moments so the drives get mapped.

    Anyway...
