Hello I am looking to buy both a External Hard Drive and a USB Flash Drive.

Please note that I am not from USA, so I can't buy from Amazon/NewEgg/Buy.com , etc

I will probably need to buy it... on eBay or a local retailer...

So... about the External Hard drive. I need it from 250/300GB . I like the Western Digital Passport Elite (250/320gb) http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=4349
Haven't really looked for any other though.

And about the USB Flash Drive... I like the design on this one http://cgi.ebay.es/real-4GB-USB-2-0...yZ151045QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
from eBay, but the read/write write seems to be too small, compared to average posted in this thread http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=208164

And what about http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.11242 ? This is a "genuine" Kingston, but the design... seems cheaper, and I don't know about the data transfer speed

Another option would be this tiny one http://cgi.ebay.es/PNY-4GB-Micro-At...ryZ77155QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem but I don't really need it to be tiny.

Thanks for your help! Looking for opinions/suggestions

I had a WD passport drive and it was fast and cool.Get a good brand of thumb drive.PNY and voyager has lot of problems as per their users.Kingston is cheaper than most others as it don't have anything fancy.but it works well for a few years unless abused.Dealextreme shipped a USB reader from hongkong and took some time to reach here.

Both SanDisk and Kingston make very good USB flash drives. You cant go wrong with either.

For external hard drives, Hitachi and Seagate are the best. Western Digital is qute reputable as well.

My Kingston Data Traveler Elite completely wipes the floor against my Sandisk Cruzer Micro in terms of performance...

Sorry, the Kingston Data Traveler Elite is much better than the Sandisk Cruzer Micro. I have benchmarks floating around somewhere and for some reason I can't search... is it just me or is the search command gone??

Well, I already bought a "Sandisk Cruzer Micro 8gb" from eBay (19€ shipped).

I don't think I need 8 gb, but it was the only one I found.

Anyway, that lexar seems good, but what about the physical size? I want it to be small, not tiny, but small.

Maybe I should buy that Lexar 4gb Lightning? 4gb are more than enough for me Please tell me about the size :)

    Thanks!

EDIT: Wow wow, seems too expensive :p

Definetly more expensive than the SanDisk but it is also alot faster.

Its not very big I'd say 3-3 1/2in long 1/4-1/2in wide

Heres a pic that I pulled from Google

Well I still haven't received the sandisk so I don'¡t know if those are bigger or smaller hehe.

Also, will it be slower for being 8gb? (instead of 4gb?=)

    I just bought a 8gb from Play.com

Will let you know how I get on with that, if you still have not found something.

8GB Play usb flash drive with rubber outside, looks ok and 16.99 could not go wrong.

I had already considered it, but unfortunately Play.com doesn't ship computing items overseas (I tried to buy a Laptop Backpack , under the computing sectionand I couldn't either)

Thanks anyway. I ordered a Sandisk Cruzer Micro 8gb from eBay, but I'm still looking for some other options (maybe a faster 4gb) and, what about the external hard drive?

    Thanks

I will make this as simple as possible:
the fastest usb drive you can get is a lexar jumpdrive lighting
    lol
so if you want 4gb get that one. Will probably equal or better performance than many external hds.

Yeah, but it's way too expensive... I don't think I would use it very often... I want it to be "fast" , but also cheap :p

Still looking for suggestions, as my Sandisk Cruzer micro 8gb is probably a counterfeit

The Lexar is 40+€, which is too pricy for me, as I won't be using it too often.

I want a small, affordable and average quality/speed usb flash drive of 4gb

    Thanks
