Ok. Stupid me... I bought this Fantom Drive Hard Drive that works perfectly... well except for the fact that the usb is only 1 foot long and that moving this drive around to much might bump it leading to damage. Soooo.... one day i grabbed what i thought was the A/C adapter for the External Hard Drive, but what i really grabbed was the A/C adapter for my laptop. It turned out the tiny cords fell off the table and i couldn't see it until i moved my desk. The external hard drive is now totally messed up. it had blinking lights and i believe the power card in the hard drive is destroyed. i was correct... however the logic display controller assembly on the Serial ATA Standard 1TB Samsung hard drive was also damaged. (i found this out by getting an external enclosure and it would not turn on with the hard drive inside.) I have thousands of dollars of stuff on there not to mention irreplaceable data. mainly my adobe master collection that cost a fortune. I plugged the correct a/c adapter and the lights went out and the drive stopped doing what a drive should be doing. ok so i bought the exact same one from the exact same store. it seems this ones logic board has different numberish thingys but i dont think that matters very much cuz it looks about the same... or identical besides the numbers. I opened them and swapped out the boards and the drive seemed to turn on and everything seemed to be working until i plugged it into my computer. Failed install of drivers so trust i did everything except swap out the actual disk of the two but that might be risky. Advice?
