I am planning on upgrading to a 320GB Hard Drive for my Vostro and I need an enclosure to use my current hard drive as an extra external hard drive, and to take the files from the 160GB drive and put them onto the new drive. Do you guys (and/or girls) have any suggestions? Thanks.

well....u would need a 2.5" hdd caddy for the job....depending which port u have at the end of ur hdd....sata or ide....u cud get a caddy for each type
going to a high street store might get u a gud one but at a high cost....but from ebay u cud get it in under $20....
the caddy wud be a hard metal casing with the appropriate port or connector inside....and wud be either a sata or ide to usb 2.0....although cables u get with the cheap ones are rubbish....I had to buy a new cable for $15 when the cable i got with my cheap $10 caddy stopped working....normally they have leds too....blue :D
search hard u cud get a designer one too....i got a lambo caddy in an auction..!! yeah....and i got a nice leather pouch as well....!! :p
just search for caddy or enclosue in ebay....and goto the drives/storage section, then hdds....u ll find loads of em.... http://computers.search.ebay.co.uk/...losures_W0QQcatrefZC12QQfromZR34QQsacatZ86758

I've seen some stuff at Newegg, I know that it has to be 2.5", I am just looking for any suggestions and anything that anyone has had a good experience with in the past. I am looking at these:
BYTECC HD-201U2 (SILVER) Aluminum 2.5" USB2.0 mini External Enclosure - Retail
SABRENT SBT-EKU25 Aluminum 2.5" USB 2.0 External Enclosure - Retail
AZiO ENC211SU31 Aluminum 2.5" Black eSATA & USB 2.0 External Enclosure - Retail
Rosewill RX81U-ES-25A 2.5" SATA to USB 2.0 External Enclosure - Retail
I am leaning towards the last one.

The 320GB hard drive is SATA, as current ones are. My 160GB is sata as well.

if u have sata drives....then the BYTTEC and SABRENT caddies are out of question as they support only IDE drives....u cud choose between the AZIO and ROSEWILL since they have the SATA internal interface....The rosewill has a 5 star review so i would reckon that ll be better....and it has a handy leather pouch too....!!

I recently bought MASSCOOL brand for 2.5 SATA drive.
Quality, feel, look are good (actually it is 'cool') Drive fits snug inside, fixed to enclosure with 2 tiny tapped screws. Cables provided are of good quality and more than enough for any situation. If you use USB connection, there is Y-cable that works as power supplier and data transferer.

I'd recommend it for USB especially if your notebook has 2 USB's side by side or stacked verically
