Odd thing but during class today my Teacher asked me if i could help her with her hard drive. It only starting happening this morning but when she plugs in her desktop hard drive that requires AC Power to the computer. The computer recognizes it. I can go into Safely Remove hardware and it would be there. But i won't be able to access the contents of the hard drive.

I remedied the situation temporarily but when i boot into Safe Mode the hard drive works perfectly fine.

When i gave back the hard drive she plugs it into her computer and it started working normally. But she notices that it only seems to work when has a flash drive also plugged in. It sounds like mere coincidence. I have her class tomorrow and I'm gonna have another look and try some things out but is there a straight answer to this?

The Hard Drive is made by Freecom it's the Freedom XS USB 2.0

Sounds like a software issue. Check to see that the proper drivers are installed.

It is. Either that or something loose. Verify the port and/or connection is working properly.
I don't know Freecom, but its best to back up now while you still can.

All the ports are defiantly working. I tried looking around for some drivers but i wasn't able to install them because they required an active internet not the type of internet at school.

I have no idea what that is but your school should have whatever internet connection you need. Just plug into an ethernet port.

So this is an external hard drive? Does it require external power or is it powered by usb port? If usb port try another port.

It could turn on but still may require an additional port (more power) for proper operation. I managed to figure this out through trial and error.

Did you have a look at the windows disk manager ? (Control panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Disk Managemnt)

If you can see it there, you should be able to map a drive letter to it (Right click on the disk).
