I'm planning on buying a 1TB hard disk. I was set on buying the seagate one but i heard alot of people say that seagate is not what it was and their hard disks fail after a short time. I'm not sure if this is still the case, but currently which is better for me to buy ?
Seagate Free Agent 1TB
or
Western Digital MyBook Essential 1TB
[they both have the same price or there is a negligible price difference]
Thanks

You mean 1TB right..?

I really hope you mean a 1TB... I have never heard of a 1GB external hard drive other than a kingston 1GB flash drive
-
No way. He means 1JB.
@op, I've had a couple seagate's prematurely fail on me, I personally wouldn't recommend them, especially since I've also read a lot of others have had the same issues with them. -
Besides the obvious jokes, I'd personally go with the WD drive, I personally haven't had any of them go bad on me, and I still have a 20GB WD drive laying around somewhere that still works, although last time I used it was Janurary of last year~

I too would recommend the Western drive. I had a 500GB that lasted over 3 years with me and it only stopped working because it was lying next to my bed... and I forgot it was there.... The external drives dont like 165 pounds standing on them

I'm currently using the 1TB WD MyBook Essentials SE and it's been a great/reliable drive thus far. However, for flexibility (USB 3.0, eSATA, etc.), the Seagate FreeAgent FlexGo (I believe it's called) would be the better choice.
