[^] I am trying to locare the equivalent to the function button on a stadard US keyboard connected to a laptop. I am trying to change the laptop's screen brightness and the keyboard on the system isn't functional.

I know this is a silly question but I haven't been able to find anything to answer my question on google.

Thank You in advance for any help.

The Fn button uses a special utility on the notebook, so you would need to map that key somehow to your external keyboard. I don't see a way to make this happen though, sorry to say.

This is not possible to date.

Microsoft is producing a version (wireless natural split keybd) that will make this possible somtime in the early fall of 2005. Not sure what the MS Part # is at this time.

I do believe the FN key is locked up on all notebooks in the system bios. If this is the case aswell the notbook MFG's would have to unlock the FN key for external programability...[?]
