This may seem like a far out question, but is there any hardware out there that enables you to use your touch screen phone as a touchpad?

My m17xs touchpad is almost as bad as Evan almighty and my phone, HTC Incredible, has the best touch screen i've ever used.

Obviously it would need to be hooked up through a usb port but who knows maybe with a rooted phone it could be done wirelessly

IIRC there's an app for iphone that let's you do this in the appstore.
Might find something similar for HTC.

Prepare for potential latency lag though.

Don't know about a external touch pad that you can buy. Have never heard of it and i guess there's not much market for them.

I tried the iPhone app, it's very laggy, since it uses the wireless network. Plus, the screen size is quite small, so it's not very precise.

There's this Wacom line of products, I've been using the Pen and Touch for about a week now. It's basically a touchpad that can double as a drawing board (using the pen). It's quite good, uses a USB port. Wacom has a Bluetooth version but I think that costs quite a bit more.

There's quite a few posts on this board on the Wacom products.

as tofu Said, wacom Sells a touch only version and a pen and touch version. If you don't like using a Stylus, the touch only version is cheaper and has a larger multi touch area. I also have the pen and touch version. So far I've been pleased with both the stylus input and multi-touch gestures.
