    Hi all,

Just ordered my Asus M50Vm A1 and now I'm looking for a speaker setup. I have no clue about speaker brands, types or specifications.

Can anyone recommend a good brand or set of speakers? I'm looking to spend no more than $50 (£30).

    Thanks guys!

    James

    Do you mean portable speakers?

If not, I recommend the Logitech X-230

Headphones are worth considering too. Sennheiser PX-100 is a great pair for less than $50. In-ear-monitors are also a good choice if you are looking for isolation from outside noise.

They don't necessarily have to be portable. They will be hooked up in my room at college. I just wanted a better sound than the inbuilt ones!

    Thanks for the swift response

I second the V20's. I use them with my M1530 and love them :)

I have noticed that these speakers can be had on ebay for 30$, are there a lot of knock offs or something? I would buy from amazon which would be 57$ but 27$ is a lot of money when your a college student.

While I must say, my suggestion is a bit out of your price range, it is an outstanding system and worth every penny (my opinion).

I use a Creative Labs Audigy 2 NX external sound card paired with a set of their 7.1 speakers (model p7800, but discontinued).

I bought this system several years ago and have used it on three separate systems - two desktops and one notebook. I have had zero complaints with it. The combination of the external sound card and the speakers creates crystal clear audio and heart pounding bass.

You may be able to find these items on eBay or CraigsList and get a good deal. As I said before, it is a bit out of the $50 price range, but it's also an investment for use on future computer systems.

Even if you don't want a setup like this, I would check out Creative Lab's speakers. I have always had good luck with them.

    Hope it helps! :)

Check product condition. Most likely refurbished. Meaning someone returned it and it's been tested but in new/like-new condition.

I plan to get a refurbed logitech V10 from ebay. Cheap, loud, awesome. Otherwise, $50 if I save $5 a day is not much.

*Edit: Nvm, buy the V20 off NewEgg. $34 after mail in rebate. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16836121134

Thanks for the advice guys. I looked at the reviews of the V20s and they look the business.

However, how much more do you usually have to pay to get a subwoofer system!? Just really love my bass...

    Thanks,

    James

Nobody has recommend logitech Z-2300? You should definetly check into them. I just got them last week and the bass is amazing. Newegg has them for 90$. Hands down this is the best speaker system ive heard for a pc. They work with xbox and ps3 too.
