My screen protector makes everything on my screen slightly blurry, will this cause increased strain and problems focusing on other things?

It will cause increased eyestrain. As for other stuff, dunno.

I'd say the screen brightness might hurt you otherwise - at least I have had my eyes hurting from a bright screen and little/bad sleep... but don't ask me if there are any medical issues with it.

About eye strain - I don't know - I'm near sighted - and before I used glasses things did get blurry on longer distances but it didn't cause me any eye strain - so it might be best if you try it yourself and then decide.

It will make things more difficult to read and thus, will increase the eyestrain.
Then again, there is a question of whether the blurriness is minimal or considerable...

I notice a real difference. Everything is so crisp and vivid w/o the screen protector, while w/ the protector, everything is blurry, kinda looking out fogged up glass, but a little less.

This is what your gonna have to deal with. Personally with my M15x (EXTREMELY GLOSSY SCREEN) I really don't mind it at all. I'd forgo the screen protector altogether and go with your screen. OR try to get a non matte finish one.

I find them and many anti glare displays cause tremendous eye strain which in turn makes me irritable (not joking) when I'm viewing for long periods of time, odd eh?

For a while I was antiglare everything, mostly because I've used mostly business notes for years. Then I saw the MacBook pro's in Best Buy and fell in love with the screen, it's the only reason I bought a Mac. Since then I removed all the anti glare screen protectors I had on my other laptop and phone etc.

I'm still looking for a windows notebook that has a screen as good as the mac's, you can see from my other posts I'm not having much luck :(

I find my M15x's screen to be much better than my former Macbook pro's screen.. And heck the laptops were comparable in price.

I'm looking for an ultra portable close to 3 lbs as possible with a good screen, only one I like so far is the 13" MacBook Pro, but I don't want a Mac this time.

Surely, someone has to make an ultra portable with a decent (glossy?) screen. Wish I could see them in real life first, limits my choices too much though.

    Sony Vaio Z.

And maybe you should go into the "what laptop should I buy" section of the forum and fill out the FAQ?

DIY and replace the screen on a Lenovo X200/1 to an AFFS+ one, it's much better than any other screen of it's size class.
