Hello, I am about go out right now and purchase a new printer. It's just going to be in use for school papers and pictures. I want a color printer with preferably laser.

Whats with the 3 kinds of color toners? for HP, there is CYAN, MAGNETA, and something else.

Do I need to buy all three to use color or can I just purchase one of those and one of black? Will it still print all colors?

I would believe you need to get all of them. As they are the 3 primary colors (Red, blue, yellow). Therefore, if you get one of them, I think it will only print in that color. I am not sure though, don't know too much about printers.

An Epson? Are you freakin kidding me? Sorry to be mean but I went through a couple of brand new Epson's and the ink dries up very quickly if you don't print much.

I LOVE HP printers. They have Superior quality and last a VERY long time. I have two, a 8 year old that still can process, and one that I just recently bought.

A laser printer will be kind of expensive if your going to just use it for papers. A multifunction HP is compact, cheap and easy to maintain. Those cartridges are also cheap to buy, as Costco you can get two blacks and one color cartridge for around 35.00USD.

HP is the way to go. I have a psc1610, and it does what I want it to. I think that is what you should shoot for IMO. Oh and the colors, you were correct: cyan, magneta, yellow are in the color cart. and black has its own cart. CMYK for short.
