Do you use a mouse pad?

If yes what do you use?

I use the Logitech MX Laser and like going without a mouse pad but fear scratching/wearing the finish on my desk. (Polyurethane coated butcher block)

Something minimal and pleasing to the eye would be nice, not flashy.

I use a mousepad featuring the periodic table that I ripped off from the chem department at my school :) It also sports the PerkinElmer logo. So sexxy!

WowPads are the way to go. They protect the desk and mouse, and you get traction, plus then are incredibly thin, and they are tacky on the back so they stay where you put them. Check out www.microthin.com

    I use a fUnc Surface 1030:
    http://www.func.net/products/1030/index.html
The one I have is black-on-black, non-descript for the most part. The cool thing about it is that it is two sided, so you can take out the insert and flip it around to have a smooth or granular surface.

No mouse pad here, I'm a devoted trackball user of 10 years. A Microsoft Trackball optical at home for the desktop and at work and I've just scored a wireless bluetooth trackball for my laptop.

Icemat FTW. I used to subscribe to the theory that mouse pads are pointless, but the precision is awesome and the mouse just glides on it.

As Chaz has said, the func1030 is quite the mousepad. It also comes with a pretty tin case.

I prefer no pad. My G7 has slick feet and works well with the table surface.

I'm definitely a mouse pad guy. In fact, I just started using the best mouse + pad combo I've ever tried. It's the Razer Krait optical mouse and Razer Mantis Control pad. I love it!

I stoped using mouse pads the day I got an optical mouse. They work on just about any flat non-reflective surface. My new targus even works in mid air from time to time. If I did chose to get a pad it would probably be the one chaz describe earlier in this thread.

    ucb9999 :D  :D

No mouse pad, I use my touchpad or optical mouse for my notebook, the optical works fine when I use it on my bed sheets when i use my notebook on my bed, or i put a piece of paper under it when using it on some surfaces.

A guy I know has a t shirt making company, so he does custom mats. He uses a t shirt high temp transfer or whatever on normal cloth pads, real slick surface.

I use a mousepad, just because sometimes the available table/counter/whatever isn't very good for mousing, or you don't want to damage it. But I also just go to Target and pay $2 for a thin, "regular" mousepad. It's comfy to use, works fine wiht optical/laser mice, and when it gets all gunky from my hands, I just buy a new one :)
