For the Hp I am using a LL bean commuter bag and the Gateway gets the bag it came with(pretty nice) and for the Compaq I am using my Patagonia Half Mass, which fits perfectly.

I've been using an LL Bean messenger bag as my laptop/school bag for about three years. I'm trying to clean up my look a little (I just got an internship, and bringing my laptop along will happen frequently). I've been looking through all sorts of laptop bags for something which I can use for my laptop + various items (text books, documents, cellphone...), which also isn't hideous. This is a difficult request. And as a college student, I'd prefer not to drop a fortune on a laptop bag. Any suggestions?

    Stm Medium Loft Bag, http://www.stmbags.com.au/mediumloft

Nice looking, not completely wacky, but still gives a sense of style against the mundain black professional bags. Also its 60 bucks so not too pricey.

Actually, I'm a big fan of black. I'd like that bag, if it was a different color.
I wear a long (ankle-length), dark red coat in winter, so alot of colors would just swear at that. As it is I feel silly with my blue bag against my red coat.

I kind of like these: http://www.mobileedge.com//items.asp?cid=6&scid=6&pid=15
    http://www.ebags.com/samsonite/ultima_tote_computer/product_detail/index.cfm?modelid=48470
but then, my finicky side comes out and says it's too feminine. Any opinions? I don't like things which scream feminine or girly. That's not me. Right now I like the look of the 2nd one better than the first.

This one says practical to me. But the price is intimidating.

I really dont know why people dont like it, I really like the brown and orange. They do have a bag called the Alley and Wave which are a little better colors, but not so functional.

Same here, except the bag was too heavy with my laptop and books. So I sent it back and got the sleeve with everything on it. Works great, and is very durable.

Booq.com is also another one of my favorites. Again because of the nature of my laptop, I can only get sleeves, and their is big enough to handle powerbricks & accessories.

I've recently started looking for a bag that would be suited to carrying a concealed weapon. (Thats not meant to scare anybody. It is not lethal and for self defense.). I have a taser which won't fit in a place on my current targus bag where it could be quickly retrieved.

I've also decided I need a bigger one anyways, since a few inches of my 6000 stick out of the slip in the bag for it.

Metamorphical, don't know what you're currently carrying, but the first thing that comes to mind is a backpack with at least one side pocket - ideally one mesh and one solid.
One good choice is this: http://www.ebags.com/jansport/maffia/product_detail/index.cfm?modelid=55515
    Another is this:

Obviously, style is a very personal thing, so let me know what thoughts you have on bag preference (size, style, use, etc.), and I'm sure I can think of something.
