I have always wanted a notebook cooler with a large fan instead of the small ones usually offered.

Now it seems my wish has come true. Digital Cowboy has released a notebook cooler that comes with a huge fan. 220 mm of air power! I quite like the industrial type looks, the tilting capability and the USB power cable. Would really like to get my hands on of these.

Now the only questions remaining: Will it be available outside Japan and how much will it cost?

I guess that's always a risk with notebook coolers. As I haven't tried it out yet, I cannot tell you unfortunately. Best way to combat this however, is to make sure to vacuum your room frequently ;)

LOL, have you ever watched MXC?

Looks like a nice cooler. Maybe they will work out any kinks in Japan first :)

Haha, I know what you mean, but you don't have to understand the culture. Just be glad they make excellent products and enjoy them :)

Nobody know yet, as it was just announced. But the web site states the noise level to be between 18 to 20 dB.

This thing seems pretty impressive by design. We just need a guinea pig to test one out first. At 600 rpm the 20db figure sounds about right. It should be silent at the rpm level. I really would like to see real world usage figures for it though. Short of that its stylish and functional enough for me to consider buying it.

This thing is a monster! I've been quite happy with my Zalman NC-1000 though.

I don't need a guinea pig - in fact, I'd gladly be the guinea pig. I just need to find out where or when I can get it, and I will buy it on the spot. It really seems to have all I want and I need in a cooler.

ok i see the attraction of a external cooler and men will be men (bigger the better) but this is just short of an industrial fan, what wil this do to any papers, stick it notes or small scraps of paper close by?

being it pushes only 50CFM, I don't think papers etc being disturbed is going to be a big issue.

on the aside, I was looking thru stuff about laptop cooling yesterday and came upon a link that sent me to a Startech product that basically plugs into a usb port and clips onto the exhaust port of your laptop and runs all the time. I'm on Startech's website now and am not having any success finding this product. if anyone knows what I'm talking about, I'd appreciate some aid being linked to it so I can look at it some more. thanks!

Yeah big fan low rpm, it wont be too loud or have a vacum. I am only concerned with how a usb port could power that.

My thoughts exactly. But I assume they wouldn't launch a product which does not work. Hopefully I can put it to the test myself - that is if I get a hold of it.

Im guessing it has just enough power to start the thing and it has a slow spool up speed, using the inertia of the fans mass and overall low air resistance to gradually build up to the rpm required to get a decent cfm (The CFM is actually quite low and thats my only issue right now with the unit I have PC fans that push almost 90cfm vs this units 50 at the same noise level.)

Who knows maybe you have to hand start it like an old airplane :p

    a) No they will not

    b) its www.amazon.co.jp

    c) Reviews are a bit above average only saying that its rickety while typing when tilted and if not placed properly (which is said to be hard to get a notebook to hold there especially on the tilt where it works better) it will not cool. This is a Japanese to English translation done by my self sorry if it is unclear.

    d) the 22 cm fan may not hit enough on many notebooks (warning on a japanese store site). Which makes sense to me

    e) It is against the rules to bump up a post that is over 6 months dead and your post has been noted to the mods
