    Firewire 800 and External Drive problems.

    Hello i have an Emachines m6811 laptop. I am using a firewire 800 cardbus and a Mybook Pro 500gb external HD, win XP SP2.

    When i use the My book with usb it works great and when i try to use the firewire 800 it will give me an error message saying "The request can not be performed because of an I/O device error" Anyone know anything that will help me with this? Thanks alot!!!

    I believe that only Macs are compatible nativley woth Firewire 800 - and the enclosure that do have it are know to struggle with having stable connection to Firewire 400 laptops, although in theory they are backward compatible.

    so i cant get the hd to work with 800 since im running win xp, I mean i cant even read anything on the disk when i connect it, like it doesnt work.

    anyone? Ive gotten a new firewire card the LaCie 800 pc card? Still doesn work.
