I bought a Kingston 2gb SD card recently from buy.com. When I stuck the card in my pc it showed up as 1gb so I googled the web looking for a fix and I came across this free fix utility by another SD card manufacturer Ridata and used it on my card and it solved the problem, the card now shows as 2gbs. I decided to try the same utility on a Ridata 1gb card I've owned for along time. It worked - it transformed my 1gb into a 2gb card!

That's weird. Flash Cards aren't supposed to be upgradable to higher memories than what they already have. If ever it can be, hardware modification may be involved.

madroxinide, you are correct, it tricks windows and unfortunately me too into thinking it was a 2gb card - so I take back my claim and apologize to those who have tried it. It did however correctly fix my legit 2gb card that was showing as 1gb.

Hopefully this can make up somewhat - it is a great free utility that meets sd orgs specifications for formatting cards....

If you are having trouble formatting your cards, you can format them legit using this Panasonic Utility provided by sdcard.org:
