Hi.
I have a Sandisk 2GB SD card and a Cheap Toshiba unlabelled 2GB SD card and they format to slightely different sizes.
The Sandisk shows at 1.89GB free in Vista and the Toshiba shows as 1.85GB in Vista.
I have formated both in a Vista as FAT and FAT32 and also in a couple of different cameras i get 10 more photo`s with the Sandisk card.
I have tested both with Flash Memory Toolkit and i get 0 errors.
Has the Toshiba card had bad sectors mapped out during manufacture.
Anybody know, it just seems strange.
John.

Hi.
Nobody got a reason for the size discrepancy.

Sometimes theres firmware installed on the card, using up a little space, Sandisks is just more compressed or its just because the Sandisk one is better quality.

Hi.
It`s a possibility, but i bought 4 of the Toshiba 2GB cards and as i was checking them for errors the "Flash Memory Toolkit" was giving me different amounts of free space.

some system files will occupy some space

2 000 000 kbytes / 1024 kbytes
this should be around 1.95 in actual size since no manufacturer ever gives you the right amount of 1024x2,000,000 of data
