Pricegrabber.com and newegg.com are great places to start. Expect to spend anywhere from $140-$300 on a new LCD monitor. You are looking for low response times, high refresh rates, high pixels, and various input port possibilities.

Since the G1s has HDMI, I'd recommend you fully take advantage of that, though that may mean you may look for a 30"+ LCD which could be out of the question. However, DVI works just as well.

Dell has amazing LCDs and at amazing prices, often with coupons and discounts, I'd check them out as well.

I am also going to college, and I also bought the g1s! I got with it a 22" 226bw screen from samsung this saturday, which has the same resolution as the g1s (1680*1050). I got a C panel, but i dont notice any problems with it.

How much are you looking to spend? You can get a 22" Acer Lcd on sale for about 160-200 dollar. If you want a 24" LCD prices have dropped also. You are looking to spend around 500-550 for a 24" LCD, a Samsung 24" lcd was on sale just recently for 500 dollars. Look around there are deals everywhere. I have a 24" Dell and i love it...using on an Asus g1 along with my desktop. VGA for the desktop and DVI for the G1.

I'll be getting this for my dad at the end of the summer. He wants the high resolution for CAD, but this should also be excellent for gaming.

That's the best deal for a 1920x1200 pixel screen I could find. There are cheaper screens in that resolution, but that seemed to be the best cost-to-benefit ratio. It's also the cheapest price I could find.

This is one I'm seriously considering as a companion to my C90S once it comes in, as it is well-reviewed and has an hdmi port. 22" is also about as big as I'd like to get for a computer monitor for the time being.

well i dont want it to be to big, i think the monitor i have now is 17 inch, and thats fine with me lol, so 19 inch or maybe 21 would be good, im looking to spend $350 MAX, would like it to be cheaper though, i did look at dell they have a 19 inch for 200 dollars, but i dont know what to check for gaming refresh rate said 5 ms , whats considered good?

I strongly advise you to go to a store to look at sizes. I wanted a 19"-21" monitor at first, but then I went to a store, looked at sizes and realised that I would love the extra real estate 22" or 24" monitors would afford me... I do have a 2nd desk in my bedroom to fill but I can't justify a 32" screen rotfl :p

Seriously, doesn't sound much, but I thought the extra screen size was gorgeous

If you plan on spending 350 MAX...Then you can definately get a 22" and still have at least $100 to spare...before tax though i guess.
