I'm just curious, do any of you have difficulty with your wireless keyboard and/or mouse? When I tested out the wireless mouses (mice?) on different computers in stores, they took a few seconds before they registered the movement, etc. I have never noticed this problem on a corded mouse, so it got me wondering if it was worth it to get a wireless mouse. Is this typical of Bluetooth accessories? Does the same thing happen to wireless keyboards?

    Thanks :)

Yes, it is quite typical. All wireless accessories (bluetooth or usb -mice, keyboards, etc) need to connect with the base. This takes time. Once they are connected, you will not have to reconnect unless the battery runs down, you restart the computer or put it to sleep.

A few seconds to move? thats a bit extreme. my mx1000 connects instantly and maintains very precise movement. It was also 70 dollars. Let's hear it for discount cards...

My other wireless mice don't have that issue either. Unless you have to change the batteries and push the reconnect buttons.

Mine is the: Microsoft® Wireless Optical Desktop Pro 2.0
    http://www.microsoft.com/products/i...ge&catid=c250fb0a-1613-4550-983d-ba203f357698

It uses RF I believe so there is no lag/delay. I don't play FPS games, but I play mmo's, and I haven't experienced lag.

I have a Bluetooth mouse that does experience lag. But it is predictable lag. If you stop using your bluetooth mouse for 5-10 min, it goes into standby and it takes a second of moving the mouse to wake it back up. Once it's awake there is no lag, there is only lag when you don't use it for that duration and wake it back up again.

The bluetooth mouse I'm referring to is the one that came free with my laptop from asus made by logitech, I believe it is similar to this one:
    Logitech® V270 Cordless Optical Notebook Mouse for Bluetooth® http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=2146,CONTENTID=10916

So if you don't want any lag period and don't mind putting USB receivers into your laptop, go with RF.

If you have a bluetooth laptop and don't want to deal with RF dongles, go with bluetooth, just be aware of the lag to wake it up if you stop using it for a while.

I have two MX1000's (one for work and one for home) and neither show any kind of lag. The one at the office has an issue (loose connection, i think), which is getting me a replacement mouse. But if there is noticable lag or connectivity time, there's something wrong with the mouse and you should contact the manufacturer.

Thanks everyone! Do you know how bad the lag is for wireless keyboards? Does it take a while for the letters to appear on the screen?

I have a logitech MX3100, and I have never ever noticed lag on the screen. I think for anything but gaming, it is way nicer cause there is no cord. I would buy it again.

I hate wireless accessories, I just use wired stuff. I find it rather annoying that you need to worry about battery life and the connection. Wireless accessories are also a lot more expensive, so I prefer super reliable wired stuff.

i brought some logitech wireless combo that came with the lx700 keyboard, and i didn't really liked it. i'm not sure if its a problem with the wireless or if its a problem with the keyboard itself, but it does not register enough key presses. when i booted up unreal tournament 2004, i had a heck of a time playing the game because the keyboard would start beeping, or would just not register the keys.

might be a problem on your end.. I was consistently playing Counter Strike and Ghost Recon with not 1 problem with the keyboards.

also Logitech keyboards have AMAZING battery life.. my MX Duo battery in my keyboard actually lasted TWO YEARS!!! and thats at LEAST 4 hours of use per day

my LX700 is going strong for about 6 months, (battery level still near full) and my MX5000 I've only had for a couple weeks and I'm most worried about since it has an LCD screen on it and is bluetooth but it still showing near full

    GO WIRELESS!

Hello all....first time poster here. Just purchased a new HP dv1000 series laptop and of course one of the first things on the agenda was to fine a good notebook forum and with what I have found here so far this is the best I've come across. Very informative and good discussions.

Now, one of the other firsts was to look at wireless options to get around touchpad usage which I never really liked, plus keeps the touch pad like new. Read for days and days, reviews and comments on various brands, style etc etc..and finally setteled on this one....a Ligitech S510 "cordless desktop" which includes a cordless mouse, keyboard, and even a remore control for media functions. With prices of good cordless mice themselves ran across this deal (hope I can do this...lol)...at Zipzoomfly which was the cheapest price I came across at the time at $59.99 but there is a $20 rebate still available and they even offer free shipping to boot..that puts final price at just $39.99 after rebate.
Been using it now for about two weeks, and still learning all it an do as it does so much. Also, havent noticed any lag whatsoever in either teh mouse (full sized by teh way), the keyboard or the media remote..and with all I have yet to learn about it..consider it a great combo of 3 wireless devices and a great buy for anyone looking at a wireless mouse...keyboard or both...
Oh yes..and the color scheme perfectly matched my laptop...asthetics....

    Here's a couple links...hopefully:
