    hello,

I just bought FreeAgent Desk 2TB (the silver coloured one) and upon unplugging the drive from the computer. it tends to turn on by itself after like 15minutes.

i also have the same drive but 1TB that i bought earlier during the year. it works flawlessly. it did not have the same "turning on upon disconnecting" problem that i have with my recently bought 2tb drive.

edit: forget to mention that when the drive spins after it has been disconnected from the computer the drive light doesn't come on like it usually does when the drive is connected to computer.

Is all 2TB freeagent drive like this or this drive is faulty?

anyone else have this problem? if so how to resolve it?

should i just return the drive?

should i get WD Element desktop 2TB instead?

Are you using the "Hardware disconnect" feature? What might be happening is that the hard drive is staying on to finish writing the cache to the hard drive. Check your settings on it, see if you have the write cache enabled.
