If i want to play computer games like left 4 dead on a 50" 1080p plasma, am I going to get bad frame rates or lagging or will my tv not be able to handle it 100% like it should? My friend mentioned I'd have to have some really good graphics cards for this, The 4850 is the desktop version of the graphics card.

The HD4850 may be able to handle it, but I'd recommend a 4870 or 4890 if possible.

If you are going to be playing at 1920x1080 you will need a powerful graphics card. Are you looking out for a notebook recommendation or what?

If your talking Desktop video cards I'd wait a month or so as the 58xx series is supposted to be out and the 5800 is supposed to be up to 160% the speed of the 4870.

The 4850 will struggle to play games at 1080p unless you knock down the settings substantially. Rather you should get a 4890 with at least 1GB of memory or wait for the 5870 (released on 22nd) which is shaping up to be a beast of a card.

OO the new desktop cards are on the way?

I have dual 4850's and they max out any game 1920x1080 easy so far but I would like to downsize to a single card because the Xfire is a lot of heat in my room and 2 cards can be annoying at times.

it would not struggle. seriously, apart from crysis of course.
just because it won't push out 60fps with 4AA+16AF doesn't mean it sucks.
