Bluetooth and gaming are two words that should not be used in the same sentence. There is a decent amount of lag over bluetooth.

They are a BIT better with the likes of the Logitech G7, but you're still better off with a wired mouse for gaming.

there isn't a lag that hurts gaming in a dynamic sense, the problem is having to resynch everytime you idle.

I do not understand this post but as an ex-CAL-IM player I can tell you there is a reason two mice are hooked up to my PC. And yes, the difference is noticeable when you play Call of Duty 2 for 6 hours a day :)

Logitech MX1000 is a decent gaming mouse. I doubt you will find much lag on it. My main gripe about it is the feet is a bit uneven. Both me and my roommate's have the problem. I have since gotten rid of my MX5000 set so the mouse is gone.

As for the G7 there is no lag whatsoever. I used to use the Razer Copperhead coupled with a MX Revolution for my desktop but I will switch to the G7 after I get back to school. I was using it on my 17in laptop and havent had much issues with it (the reciever should be close to the mouse though if there is a lot of WiFI traffic). The G7 isn't a good mouse for a laptop IMO because you need the charger, dongle and the mouse itself. With a wired mouse you just need the mouse so I will be swapping with my desktop.

p.s. I have had 3 Bluetooth mouse. V270, MX1000 and now V470. Never had to resync after idle.

You should be able to find a G5 around that price. The last generation deathadder's also pop up at that price.

It all depends on how much you game and what your priority is. Is gaming you number one concern? Do you game 6 hrs a day and enter competitions etc? If so then get a wired mouse, if not and you game casually then go for the wireless. I game once in a while so my choice of a wireless mouse was a very good decision on my part, as the lack of a cord is worth more to me than every kill/point I can get in a game. But I can game fine on my wireless mouse without any issues too. Can a wired mouse do better? Maybe, but I am not planning on entering any gaming tournaments ;)

As far as Bluetooth mice, they can be hard to find in full size and full featured(extra buttons). I don't have personal experience with them. Some people like them others complain of lag, reassociation etc. I choose to go for a RF mouse and am very happy with it. Only complain, is the small dongle, but I had to compromise, best I could do. Check out the link in my sig for a mouse. It doesn't focus on gaming per say but there are a lot of options that were thrown around.

BTW - when I was looking for a mouse I considered a G7 as well, but the battery life is supposed to be terrible and the replacement batteries can't be found. Read the reviews on Newegg and Amazon.

I game occasionally on a logitech mediaplay, which is a nice wireless mouse. The dongle is large enough though that I wouldn't want to use it on a laptop.

Take a look at the Logitech VX Nano or V450 Nano, which both have VERY small wireless receivers that can be left plugged in to the laptop even when moving it.

Another vote for the deathadder. The only IR mouse I'd even trust for gaming is the MX Revolution, and that's $100 -- you could have your pick of Razr for that.

depends on what you play... personally i have a g5 and a mx revolution bluetooth version.

the g5 is nice - very good no complaints what so ever about it, and its wired.

the mx revolution bluetooth has a lag after it comes back from idle, and also if you're playing FPS games, it's not precise. it would not move it exactly as a g5 would.

all in all after i read about bluetooth lag and all i still went with getting the mx revolution bluetooth, because the wireless and dongleless of bluetooth suits me more. I force myself to remember the lag after idle and that the mouse will not be exactly where i point it, and its ok

I've had zero performance problems with the IR version of the MXR. BT mice haven't quite hit the hassle-free state I really prefer in mice.

Wired for gaming. For $40 you can pick up a Logitech mx518. It's one of the best gaming mice of all time.

    Lol lots of misinformation here:

There is a good reason they give you 2 batteries. Logitech even replaces then for free if the battery life goes down after repeated recharging. Yes you will have to change battery probably once a day maybe two but it is very fast and you will always have a fully charged battery. Can't say that the couple times when I forgot to put my MX Revolution in its cradle. You come back to find that it is not charged but you still have to use it. So sooner or latter the mouse dies and you have to wait for it to recharge. PITA.

MX Revolution is no where near the best wireless gaming mouse. G7 then probably MX1000. Anyways the Revolution isnt $100 either, it can be found for half that very often.

I agree, that having the 2 interchangeable batteries is better than having a built in one, where you need wait for the mouse to charge before using it. But I don't think this solution is much better. I guess it depends on what you are willing to deal with, but I would be annoyed if I had to change the batteries of the mouse 2x a day, maybe others would not be. Like I said from the reviews that I read, a few people complained that the batteries drained very fast too the point where the batteries were useless and needed to be replaced. In one person's review, they said that when they went to get replacement batteries directly from Logitech, they told him that they did not have any. In fact he cut and pasted his email from them into his review. Therefore, I came to the conclusion that this whole thing would be more problems for me than it would be worth, hence my comments to the OP. Currently I am using a wireless mouse that takes 1 AA battery and has not needed to be changed in the last month - I like that.

Lol ironically if he asked for another mouse he would have gotten it. Logitech's support is stellar. I cant say that about Razer. I asked them for mice feet and they were like go buy your own. Logitech just mailed me them. I was a big Razer fan before.
