    Hello!

I have a problem with my laptop battery. Recently I noticed that my laptop can last a loot shorter on battery, around 1h 15min instead of 2h like usually. At first I thought it was something wrong with my power settings but after checking that up, I noticed in Everest that my Fully charged capacity of my battery is around 40% lower then designed capacity!

Is there any reason to that or can I do something to make it last 2h again? I want to add that such thing (with lowering my battery capacity) happen over couple of days, so it was quite rapid.

You could see if your laptop has a battery conditioning program, like Lenovo battery maintenance setup. Otherwise, not much you can do, cell's lose their ability to hold charges both as a result of use and time (and heat).

When my tc4400 original battery died, individual cells died one after another in couple weeks time. I could see it when I looked at the capacity, some day I just had one cell worth of capacity less than day before that.

I went and bought a new battery from some asian seller in eBay. It wasn't original but working one and actually really cheap compared to those available here.

It can be gradual or it can be quick, depending on how many cells are in your battery and the way they are degrading. With 2hrs of battery life, and if it's a 3cell battery, only one has to die for you to lose 33% capacity.

There's really not enough information to make a call here. It could be a defect in workmanship or it could be that you decreased the battery's life through poor handling. There's just no way to be sure.
Exactly. It could just be at the end of it's life.

It is as old as laptop - around 2 years.

    I see....

New batteries have some kind of 'chip' on them right? Maybe that chip is wrong? Is there any way to reset it?

Most you can do is to calibrate the battery, by using it until 0% and charge it back to 100% and check the wear level again.

Install CPU ID Hwmonitor and with the battery plugged, it should show you the battery wear percentage ;)

40% battery wear over 2 years is about right.

Best you can do is cycle the battery. Discharge the battery near 0% and charging it back up to 100%, do this a few times.
