out of all these, what are their appropriate DPI's. I just picked up the MX 610 from costco for $50 and want to know if i should have spent a bit more and got either the G7 or MX 1000 or will the MX 610 suit my needs as a designer. Right now i'm designing with an optical, so whichever i chose, it'll be a huge performance increase.

You should see about trying them all out and read some reviews. They all have unique setups and features. You should probably do well with your 610 though. Although the g7 is of course the best and I would prefer that myself (gaming etc.)

I have the MX3100 laser desktop (which includes the MX1000 mouse) and I LOVE it. I wouldn't trade my mouse for anything else right now.
-
I have now the MX 1000 for about 2 weeks and it really feels good.
But on travel i use the V500 -
g7 is the best mouse i've ever used, i'm glad i spent the extra $$$ on it, and i've had both the other mouses b4 as well

i'm starting to get use to my MX610. i guess part of my problem was using a Mx1000 at work and then moving home and using a MX610. the size difference was substantial and took a little getting use to. also, the MX1000 just appeared to be more solidly built compared to the MX610. The mx610 was my clear choice for home though because of costco, can return any time in case i really don't like it anymore, 2. i wanted something that i can port between desktop and notebook without having to bring my charger station along.
-
The G7 has a tiny usb adapter that is smaller then most flash drives- this way you can take it from desktop to notebook easily. It also comes with a seperate charger that only charges the battery (it comes with TWO batteries) so you never have to take the charging station with you.

the G7 is soooooo ugly! i can't imagine what would possess logitech to paint anything in those colors. i'm sure it's a great mouse, but i absolutely couldn't put it on my desk.
-
I think it's nice =P

Ok, that's not so bad. The picture from Logitech's website is hideous... let me show it to you:
not to mention it lacks forward and back buttons, which i consider a must (just what is the one side button's functionality?). I really think the MX1000 is the superior mouse. -
The G5 isn't bad, the lack of a forward does get annoying but I've kinda gotten used to it
-
Yeah g7 and g5 only have the "back" button, but it also has the right and left scroll which you can program for forward and back. Basically logitech surveyed a bunch of the users and for some odd reason, a bunch of them said get rid of the forward button? (also a bunch said keep it but not as much?). Dunno what happened there =).
-
That is strange. I think to remedy the issue of "too many buttons" Logitech should have made the forward and back buttons kind of like a d-pad on a game controller. So just imagine dropping the up and down buttons on a d-pad and then place the leftover right and left buttons on the side of mouse. But of course smooth it and make it more ergonomic. Meh, maybe next time (or never).
I'm still stuck on which mouse to buy. I know I want a wireless one so it really comes down to the MX1000 with it's many buttons or the G7 with it's small reciever and quick change battery packs. I'm not a hardcore FPS gamer but I don't want to suffer from weak controls either. What do you guys think? -
i like to game and what logitech did makes sense, i use a microsoft 5 button mouse and in normal use i use all 5 keys, but when playing my games i never use the forward key, but i couldnt live without the back, so it does make sense to a gamer id say
G7, MX 610 or MX 1000
