What's a good cooler for a G73. Is the Zalman NC2000 fine?

Maybe you can consider of buying Zalman NC3000S or NC3000U?
-
I would recommend the NZXT Cryo LX
Probably the best notebook cooler out there!

the cryo lx also seems to compliment the stealth looks of the g73.

or you can wait, like I am for this!

As you can see it perfectly compliments the look of the Asus G73JH! It almost looks like it was made for it -
i do not consider the zalman units to be a "gaming cooler". they are exceptional for general use, but they will hit a wall after a certain point cuz of the 2 dinky fans and zalman's cooling philosophy. those 2 small fans in the nc1k/2k units just don't put out enough CFM's to really channel enough air throughout it's vented surface. however, there have been guys that modified their nc1k/2k's to give a more direct air flow.
edit: after doin a bit more research and reading thru ViciousXUSMC's g73 review. i found that the g73 doesn't even have any vents for it's GPU and CPU's at the bottom. the underside of the g73 doesn't have any vents except for a few near the wifi/HDD area. according to ViciousXUSMC's review, the g73 draws air for it's GPU and CPU thru the mesh area at the top, near the speakers. -
Yeah the G73 was modeled after the F117 Nighthawk, hence the rear facing cooling vents.

Idle temps:
Load temps:
Our temperature readings were all taken with an infrared thermometer in Fahrenheit (F) while the system was idle and running a loop of 3DMark06 and wPrime for the load temps.
With a flagship AMD Radeon 5870 GPU on board, there is no doubt that this laptop runs on the warm side. I was able to have the notebook sit on my lap without too much of a heat issue on my legs, but that is not a good solution for the notebook's air flow.
We did notice the bottom of the chassis warmed up a bit at load, but only where you would expect the hot-spots to be. The CPU and GPU were getting a little warm, but not too hot. We even noticed some areas away from major components got cooler at load due to the cooling fan running at higher RPMs. One thing to note is that there was very little temperature difference on either side of the trackpad since the only spaces below the front of the notebook are for hard drives.
