So my G9X clicker is dying and I made a warranty claim. They said the G9X is out of stock and offered me the G700. Is the G700 nearly the same and an upgrade? I have big hands and the G9X is a perfect fit, so I'm afraid that the G700 might be too small.
Thoughts?
Also, why is logitech making me send the G9X first, while companies like plantronics send me the product first? Is this normal? Not a huge deal since I'm getting a return label mailed (free shipping), however I don't like parting with a gaming mouse for two weeks![]()

PS: Looks like you can run it "wired" via an USB Cable, but still, it is predominately a wireless gaming mouse that uses rechargable AA's. -

The G700 doesn't appear to have the weight inserts, which is one of the things I love about the G9X. DPI looks to be the same as the G9X at 5700.
They both seem to have a bunch of similar features.
I have sent 3 Logitech mice back to them. A G7, and a G9 both for clicking issues. And a G9X for braided cord wear. Logitech sent my first replacement to me because I had the serial number of the mouse. The second, they said that because I owned several mice and had a history with them, they are able to send it out first. They also said that you have to have a serial number to get the replacement prior to sending in your defective. The third mouse I RMA'd, had a worn off serial number. They said they would replace it, but only if I shipped it to them first. -

I actually have no weights in my G9X since I find it hinders my RTS performance.
I'm a "claw" mouse user and the G9X fit that perfectly. I just hope this mouse does the same.
Thanks for letting me know about the warranty. What I'll do is take a picture of all my logitech products and include them in an e-mail so she can send me the mouse first. -

The G700 only has 1 AA cell, so it isn't as heavy as some other wireless mice. You can run it fine plugged in with no battery in it, although you might want to use a different micro-usb cable as the included one is sort of stiff. It is definitely a palm grip mouse, but that is what I am used to so it suits me fine.
I don't find the weight an issue at all for FPS games (which rely on fast mouse movements). The feet have a low enough coefficient of friction that it still moves very well despite the fact that it has a battery in it (and it is a lot lighter than some other wireless mice I have used). -

In terms of specs, it is pretty much an upgrade. Identical DPI and response time, but it can achieve this in wireless or wired modes. If I were you, I'd give the wireless mode a try. A single AA battery really doesn't weigh that much, and wireless is half of what makes the G700 so popular.
As for the shape, I will say it is more geared toward palm-gripping, but you can still find a way to claw it. So, as far as I'm concerned, it's a straight upgrade from the G9x on paper, unless you really can't stand the shape and feel of it. But I think you'll enjoy it. -
Appreciate it, guys. I've opted for the G700. Hopefully I'll be happy
I took a picture of all my logitech products and put it in my ticket in order to show my loyalty and to favour them sending the mouse first lol. Hopefully 3 products "show" my loyalty. -
You won't be disappointed. I have had the G9 and I love my G700 much better. Wireless is pretty awesome. I really wouldn't plan on using this wired either, the cable sucks. I got a 4 battery charger that charges my batteries for when they die.
-
As for the G700... it's a slightly different mouse aimed at slightly different needs. Performance-wise, you'll be happy with it. But personally, it wasn't the right mouse for me because dealing with wireless is a pain in the butt. The closest wired mouse to the Logitech G9x is probably the Logitech G500.
Edit: Or, you could get the Logitech G700, sell it as New on eBay, and get whatever mouse you want. They sell for about $75. -
It's not the same mouse, but a Logitech Laser. I just recently purchased a MX anywhere mouse. I really like it. It works fantastic and scans on the worn glossy area of my desk that optical's no longer work well on. It is very accurate and I can't notice any lag in clicking or tracking.
-
The Logitech Anywhere MX and the Performance MX do not use a laser sensor. They use a Darkfield sensor.
The Darkfield sensor is the best sensor that I have ever used. It is smooth, precise, and never skipped, no matter which surface I have used it on. And I have used it on a lot of crazy surfaces that a laser or optical sensor would choke on, like glass, polished granite, airplane food trays, and airplane seat cushions.
The drawback of the Logitech Anywhere MX (and its bigger brother, the Performance MX) is that it doesnt have features ypu would typically find in high end gaming mice. It has relatively low DPI (~1800dpi vs 5000+dpi), low USB polling rate (125hz vs 1000hz), doesnt allow on-the-fly dpi sensitivity switching, and doesn't allow you to store your profiles to onboard memory.
To some people, that stuff doesn't matter, because the mouse performance is "good enough" for what they do, and want the benefits like Darkfield imaging that you cannot find in other mice. For others, the lack of gaming features is make-or-break for them. -
It is both wired and unwired, and I don't find any difference in performance between the two modes. Try the wireless... I think you might be surprisedI mostly use wired for my surfing and such, and unplug and go wireless when I'm wanting to frag.
You really could do a lot worse than the G700. -
Games I've been playing with it are Dead Space, Starcraft 2, L4D, L4D2, (Host of other source games), Borderlands.
I'm not saying it's the best, but it is as responsive as my G9 during gaming so far -
Hey dude, I'm having the same problem with the left click of the mouse. Its kindy jumpy and sometimes does not respond. How did you have your g9x replaced? I think all our g9x has 3yrs of warranty right?
-
Sadly they still insist on sending me the label first even though I sent them a picture of all my Logitech products together lol. Ah well, it was worth a try.
They said the G9X is now re-stocked, so I'm not sure if they'll offer the same option as they did with me. You can ask, though ...that's if you want a G700. -
Nah. I'll stick to a new g9x. I've been looking for so long for this kind of mouse that perfectly grips my hand and this g9x is the king! Thanks for the info man.

I love my G5, although the original one did malfunction (the +/- buttons to change rate of speed stopped working) so they sent me the G5 gen2 without asking me to return the old one.
I use VX Anywhere for home laptop which is fine but at work I use the V550 Nano which sucks because I'm so used to the precision of the G5.
So I wonder if I should upgrade to G9x for home and use the G5 at work. -
If you like the shape of the G5, get the G500. The G9x has different grips, but none of them are quite the same as the G5's shape, so you might not like it. At least with the G500, you know what you're getting into.

Ahh!
Their center for North America is in Arizona. It's going to take forever to get a replacement. Not even a facility in Canada
Week 1: You mail a label from AZ to ON.
Week 2: I mail the mouse from ON to AZ.
Week 3: Mouse arrives in AZ and "processes".
Week 4: Mouse gets shipped from AZ to ON.
Week 5: I receive the mouse
I'm disappointed with Logitech...gonna call, QQ and convince a manager to send me it along with the label. -
Logitech doesn't do advanced replacement, unfortunately. Only Dell does that.
-
So, What mouse are they going to send you now?
-
-
Victory! I mentioned this forum and this thread in a reply. I threatened to give them a bad review of the service if my item wasn't sent with the label first because 5 weeks is unacceptable
QQ and threats always work if you're not satisfied. No more bending over for companies! -
