What do you use to play your games?
I use A Logitech G500 mouse, programmed for forward/ backward, movement, aiming, shooting and Melee in Shooter/ first person games.
Keyboard controls for everything else in the game.
I am thinking of getting a gampad for playing other games and maybe to try it on first person games.
The Xbox looks good.

My peripherals, I highly recommend everything:
Logitech G602:
Logitech G19:
Logitech G13:
Logitech G25:
Logitech Extreme 3D Pro:
Logitech G240:
Thermaltake Shock Gaming Headset:
Microsoft Wireless Xbox 360 Controller for Windows:
It may look like I'm a bit of a Logitech Fanboy, but when it comes to having the best quality/performance, Logitech doesn't disappoint in "most" of their products. Their wireless gamepad is horrible, it has way to many disconnection issues, but the Xbox wireless controller is perfect. But for first-person games, I never play with the controller, I just prefer the accuracy of a mouse, so I really only use it for fighters. Everything else really has it's own place. If you are a pc gamer that hasn't really used a controller dedicatedly on a console for first person games, then I would not recommend you try it. Coming from my own personal experience without auto-aim on pc, it is just so hard to adapt to aiming with an analog stick. I would suggest keeping your mouse and use the Logitech G13 instead of a keyboard, it is a lot more comfortable to use than a keyboard and once you map all the keys gaming on it is fantastic.Ajfountains likes this. -
I'll try my controller on any game that has support for it. Most of the games i enjoy are single player experiences, not competitive FPS. I've played through the bioshock series, Fallout, Borderlands, and Metro with a 360 controller.
A gaming mouse along with a gamepad also makes a great ergonomic choice. My one recommendation is to try to keep all peripherals to a single brand, ie Logitech or Razer. This makes macroing easier as all devices run through one program. -
The Xbox controller is not normally recomended for FPS games. 3rd person can be ok, or all others can be OK. But you won't be as precise in a FPS. That said, some do use one if FPS games. I use a mouse and a Logitech G13.
The soon to be released Steam controller might be a good option for couch gaming. -
I use a playstation 2 controller with an adapter for pc.
I bought the razer elite, but returned it due to "complications" -
But if you want to use gamepad, get a Microsoft Xbox gamepad (wired, or "Wireless for Windows" version). It is the gold standard for gamepads. Just about every PC game with gamepad support assumes that the player will be using an Xbox controller.
Game controllers, Mouse & keyboard or Gamepad?
