Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 6000, would have bought the G7 but it was way to ugly, as was the MX1000, and i preferend the ergonomics of the MS.

and also the whole charging the mouse or the batteries i didn't really like, MS mouse just uses AA batteries that last well beyond 6 months

When I got my LX700 keyboard/mouse combo, the MX1000 was new on the market. I got it because of the rechargable mouse.

why do people think the g7 is ugly?

2000dpi adjustable dpi, mini usb dongle for mobility, and two rechargable batteries so you'll always have one charged and never need to put your mouse on a charger- what else can you ask for?

MX3100 desktop -- the mouse is fantastic! And not ugly... the G7 is ugly (see the picture on logitech's page... it's BRIGHT green in that image)

Yea, they used too much lighting, it is NOT bright green its more of a darker, sleeker green, I like the colour. The only thing that pushed me towards the G5 is the gripping skin instead of the plastic one in the G7

bluetooth mice seem to not come with as many buttons as i'd like. i'd love to get one to go with my next laptop, but the options i've seen, well, suck.

Well with the new bluetooth 2.0, the 3mb/s transfer should open the world to bluetooth gaming mice.

I think that G7 might be the one my friend just got. If so, it works beautifully. Insanely smooth and precise - seriously, a joy to use.

2000dpi is overkill for me, but with the 3 on the spot DPI shifting, I manually changed it to 400->1000->2000 and it's been a blast. 1000dpi is enough, and for some cases, the switching helps alot. Also, I tend to share my laptop with family and friends, and the customizablity helps them use the mouse to their own feel!

I have and use a Logitech Mx900. I like it a lot. I have talked to others who have switched from it to the G7, they have reported that after trying the G7 they realized how much "lag" the Mx900 had. So while I'm happy with it, I think I'd advise against it for gaming based on these reports.

I switch the sensitivity based on what game I'm playing or if I'm just browsing the internet or something. It's quite handy, I might say.

I'm using the Razer Diamondback - very precise, definitely a gamers mouse. :)

I have been using it for . . oh, I'd say since mid-August 2005 (about 5 months) - beautiful, no problems.

Man, only one other Razer user? I've got a Diamondback Plasma LE (inrared sensors are the coolest!). Although I haven't been gaming much lately, I do thoroughly enjoy using it. The shape is ideal - I considered getting an MX518, but I just can't stand the way it's contoured.

I wish the software had a few more features than it does, though.

Depends on your hand, I guess. From the reviews that I've read, the design is better suited to those with bigger hands (like me!) who control the mouse with their fingers and not their whole hand.

I agree Trippy, I have big hands. When I was in Europe and had the Razer my friend hated it, cause he had small hands. I love it and it is accurate for shooting games.

The MX518 is very un-appealing to me. Looks like a jazzed up MX500, which is ancient.

I have no problems with the Razer as I stated before. Ergonomics are good, great for shoot-em-ups as USAF says. The buttons have a great feel.
