is say go for the logitec G5
-
I have had a Razer Diamondback for a few years- i LOVE it for ANY GAME! Even for general computer use, it is extremely comfortable and a beautiful mouse. The drivers are awesome. I think they still sell it-only go for Razer in my opinion-my mouse, with heavy heavy use, has lasted very well-never and issue in a few years and the colors are beautiful=
GO RAZER!

I got the Razer Diomondback G3 a few weeks ago and absolutley LOVE it. So my votes for the copperhead
-
I'd say go for a Razer. I'm using a Copperhead, still performs well, never had any problems.

I have both the Logitech G5 old version with 1 mouse button and the newer G5 with 2 thumb buttons. I have tried many different mice. The G5 has a nice feel, faster dpi then the mx18, and best all customizable weights that you insert into the mouse. Get the G5, you will not be dissapointed.
-
deathadder if not then mx518 no need to get g5

Has anyone got any firsthand experience with a Logitech G9? The durability of the buttons tempts me.. I seem to go through a loooot of mouseclicks on my VX Revolution and the buttons are already beginning to wear out.

I second the idea of purchasing the Logitech G5. It's the best mouse I ever had. It's fast, sleek, has a great grip to it(only if you're right handed), and looks great. You will not regret it. I have no problems with it either.
Only downside are for people who are left handed. This mouse is designed for right handed people. -
If you read the reviews...they are not as good as the G5. The buttons interested me as well....but the G9 does not have customizable weights...that is one of the main reasons I love the G5. -
thanks for the reply guys...
i am now considering to buy the Logitech G5 -
You know, you really should go to a best buy or something and try them all out. You have pretty much every mouse shape up there, and you may only like one. It would suck if you ordered an expensive mouse and didn't like it at all.
That said, I recommend the diamondback 3g. -
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
I would also recommend the Logitech G5, I've had mine for about 1 1/2 years already and it is working great, no problems, solid mouse.

The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
MX518 or G5. I would have bought the G5 but I found the 518 for $15 with 3 day shipping.
-
do go and try out these mouse at a near by store though as most of the people will suggest one as they own one and are happy with it IMHO
as i have used g5, mx revolution and deathadder and found it more comfortable compared to other two, its just matter of personal opinion. i said mx518 earlier as its best deal at that price and is a very good mouse.
and if leaving in bigger city like bombay, pune or banglore will find it in some store though i know here its difficult to get a piece which you can use for trial. -

I think the 518 is everything the G5 wants to be but better.
I have the G7 essentially the better G5 and 518, the 518 has a better scroll wheel, a better feel (nice and smooth I hate that rough texture of the g5) and should be cheaper too.
Mines several years old now and still feels and performs (and even looks) like its brand new, I have never seen something hold up so good.
I use the G7 on my laptop because its wireless, and the 518 with my desktop. In fact if its for a laptop and your even thinking about the G5, may as well find a sale and get the G7 and enjoy the benefits of losing the wires. Makes life so much easier since allot of times I dont have a surface right next to my laptop to use a mouse on and less mess to deal with (esp in my bag I hate cords getting tangled) -
But if you don't have the right surface most of the time, the debating against the G5 or G7 doesn't really have an impact. Due to both use the laser....The G7 is more expensive due to being wireless. I would love to take advantage of the wireless, but since I have 2 G5's, I will always have a surface to play on. The MX18 is good, but the G5 has a higher dpi and customizable weights. With that, how can the G5 try and be everything the MX18 is? -
Logitech G3. I have it and I find it to be one of the best out there. If you do go for a laser gaming mouse, go for this one, OR the G5 as u stated above.

If you think you use 2000dpi when you crank it up max in windows then just turn down the sensitivity in a game to compensate for the fact that a flick of your wrist moves you in 5 360's your wrong, the game just lowered the dpi of the mouse at a software level, so your just balancing a scale. One side has windows settings with dpi of your mouse, the other has the games settings with sensitivity. Moral of the story short, DPI of the two doesn't matter and in technical documents the 518 has a higher refresh rate and error draw rate and things like that than the G5 anyways which have been said to be more important.
As for the cost? Well my G7 was 40$ brand new and my 518 was 35$, thats the beauty of shopping around. -
@all thanks a lot for replying guys
i finally purchased the G5(2007 version) and its simply kewl
will post some pics soon...
just wanted to know what settings you use while playing cz/cs? -
thats great...ya Deathadder is damn expensive in India...Rs. 4500... although i got it for Rs. 2100 only....i bought in Singapore itself.
My friend who is a counter strike pro ...he uses MX518 ...he's the best player in new Mumbai. -
mattireland It used to be the iLand..
Sorry I've never used the G9 but would further recommend the G5. I've never had a problem with it and I think it's reduced on amazon at the mo to like £35.
-
I just got the g5 as my first gaming mouse and it is wonderful. i'm in love...
-
If you want the absolute best gaming mouse, the G9 is it IMO. I love all of the customizations and quality it offers. I love mine!

mattireland It used to be the iLand..
Great - it's a really good piece of kit. Make sure you install all the drivers that come with it for maximum performance!
-
yeah i did install the Logitech SetPoint software and Desktop Manager that came in the cd
-
am a bit late to the party, but had to vote for the sidewinder. i love it. i find it more comfortable than the g9 or the g5, plus it was cheaper than both with the 25% cashback deal.
-
@Jeff its only 1 vote for the Sidewinder(thats yours)
and no vote for MS Habu
whats with the microsoft gaming mice guys?
are they so bad? -
I don't want to put anyone down but the Microsoft mice are ugly.
-
This is what I wrote in another thread:
Well, recently, on a trip, I had a choice to pick up either the Habu, the Sidewinder or the Lachesis. After reading a lot of bad reviews on the Habu, I really couldn't decide which to pick between Lachesis (seemed a bit oddly designed and not well fitting to the hand) and Sidewinder (big enough for my big hands) so decided to buy both of them.
Came home and tried both of them.
And I must say, the Lachesis feels much better in the hand then I thought it would. Not only that, it feels much better.
The Sidewinder, just felt slow (for lack of a better word), or not as smooth, as the Lachesis.
The Lachesis is smooth as butter and is fantastic as a gaming mouse. I love to work even in Windows with it, its just so accurate. The buttons click very well and it has a nice feel to it.
Ever since I tried them both, the Sidewinder is sitting in my drawer completely unused while the Razer has been connected constantly to my computer.
On paper, the specs may be ridiculed (who needs 4000dpi anyway) but in practice, it just feels like a hot knife through butter. Operation is ultra smooth and it gives me the greatest control of any mouse I have ever used (previously, I have had MX1000, G5).
***
Now, for my comments on the sidewinder. I think on its own, the sidewinder is a very good mouse. Its only the comparison to the Lachesis that blew it away. Otherwise, I think its great and its side buttons have just the right placement. No mouse I have ever owned has had comfortable or easy to access side buttons. They are a joy to use and press.
The Habu had a great feel in the hand. I would have bought it at once if it weren't for some problems with it I read on the net, like slow polling and other firmware problems.
I had a choice to buy another G5 as well as the G7. The reason I opted out of going for Logitech mice is because with ever Logi mouse I have owned, the buttons seem to wear out after a year's usage and start clicking twice or not clicking at all.
Although, as of now, I am very happy with my Logi VX Nano for the laptop.
I voted for the DeathAdder in your poll, mostly because it has the same comfort levels as the Habu and is an excellent gaming mouse. -
I voted Copperhead because that is what I use. However I would get the G5 because it is Logitech. Logitech sends you free mice feet when it gets worn. Razer gives you a link to buy them for $10 + ship.

i say the g5 if you want laser, but if you dont mind optical and want something cheaper then the mx518 is THE BEST!
