Are there any headsets that provide good sound around the $50 range? It doesnt need to have a microphone or anything.

Some people would want to stab me for saying this, but I always recommend Sennheiser's as a "when in doubt, and you know nothing about headphones" brand. They have some decent sub-$50 headphones. The HD 201's and 202's are great for really low budgets.

IMO, I really like the Superlux 668B's: Superlux HD668B / HeadRoom Audio

Great budget friendly monitors, though they are open back so they do not isolate outside noise at all. I use them for movies and gaming, when a mic isn't req'd (otherwise I use my Steelseries 3H).

Just know that they are not designed to be the most comfortable monitors in the world: highly recommend getting AKG velour pads to replace them, if you have the extra cash.

For a cheap gaming headset I often recommend plantronics gamecoms. I have the 777s, but I've also heard good things about the 780s.

I can't say I know very much about stereo headphones. If you want to look ridiculous you could always go with the koss portapros.
