I want a good gaming mouse, I was thinking about the G5 (I don't want wireless). I often use my mouse on non mouse-pad surfaces (table, my pant leg, bed, couch cushion, bench fabric, etc). And I wanted to know if the G5 would do that well. I need a new mouse anyway, and I do alot of gaming, and I want a good quality mouse, so would the G5 work well for me?

Yeah it's a great mouse. Try to look for the second revision though, it has better side buttons. Where are you planning on buying it from?

Oh but it might not work too well without a mouse pad.. No real point in buying a gaming mouse without a real pad.

I just bought the old G5 and it is an excellent mouse and I highly recommended it. It works just about everywhere, even on my worthless desk, but I wanted something a little more level so I bought a sUrface 1030 gaming mouse pad which is very nice. Sometime in the near future I want to upgrade to the newer G5 which has the two thumb buttons (the old one only has one, which is no big deal now, but when I buy my new Santa Rosa laptop in the next few months I am going to do some heavy gaming and an extra mouse button I think would be very helpful). So Abyss, if you decide to get the G5 I would look for the newer one if you can find it. Anybody have any suggestions?

I use my G5 on our table without a mouse pad. It works fine.

Same here I have been using the old G5 and it is a great mouse, very smooth tracking and very accurate.

Sweet, it sounds like thats the mouse for me then.

I'll buy it from newegg, or Amazon or whereever is cheapest (thats new).

And I might get a mousepad, but mostly I'd want it to work on those places incase I didn't bring it (just another thing to lug along). And it sounds like it will.

I like my G5 mouse, excellent product, so far, I LOVE IT. XD

No problems with it. for me, my side button doesn't always work, so i think i got a defective one, but the rest work. Still gets a 5/5 though

It's really fantastic. The weight cartridge is really useful to help you get the best feel when you move it around. The G5's sensor also allows you to mouse on pretty much any surface. You can also customize the sensitivity and change them by just pushing a few buttons.

I prefer Razer's products over Logitech's but that is personal preference. ;) I advise you to take a look at the Copperhead before you buy though, you may like it better.

I did the same thing. Came out to like $30. It was a really good deal IMO. Best mouse I have used thus far.

go for the razer deathadder, its got the latest technology
instead of laser, it uses 3G Infrared, which is supposed to be the most precise technology
Laser technology basically looses at low sensitivities
    Dont go for the G5
I have owned it, and the scroll wheel gets inefective after constant use. I have the Microsoft Habu now, and am really happy with it

Is the G7 a decent wireless mouse? I was interested in that one.

I have a G5 and I've used it tons, wore out the mouse feet 4 or 5 times already and its still tickin. It's a great mouse, feels awesome. Just turn up the dpi to full and turn down the sensitivity in windows and your set.

The only mice that I think feel better are Logitech's revolution mice.

I haven't had the chance to try out any razors though, since they aren't in stores.

    Marketing Nonsense.

And I have used my G5 for a while and the scroll wheel is perfectly fine, so next time avoid generalizing about what happens to a G5 mouse just because it happened to you.

    Thanks for all the info.

The G5 sounds like my best bet.

    I think that the G7 is just a G5 without a wire. And I don't like wireless.
