Assume that i use 800-2000dpi on my G5, would i see much difference in performance of the mouse pads?

I have G5 and I never use mouse pad, and what I've noticed so far - only difference is when the surface where mouse is laying is really really glossy, like lacquered tables or similar. I've driven my mouse over regular desks at workplace, I've done it over the armchair armrest, sometimes I even hold a small tray in my lap and run mouse over it (whatever, don't laugh, I like to play FPS on my laptop, from my armchair, sorta semi-horizontal pose..) So it really makes no difference. It bothers me more if the surface is not smooth or if it is too smooth so my hand does not slide easily over the surface...

What I've noticed is that it is much more important to enable all five precision increments in regular intervals - like 400, 800, 1200, 1600, 2000 dpi(reconfigured via logitech software) and that makes it much easier for use.. and of course, for gaming purposes, those extra buttons are great help.

and another thing is - I like my mice to be heavy, so I am using all black weights in that orange board underneath the mouse...that probably influences mouse precision as well.

I got a gaming index finger, it cost only $39,750. Using it to replace my out-dated organic finger, I can react almost instinctively to other players now.

Alright, here's the serious bit. I don't belive in gaming mouse pads anymore than gaming mice. My generic foam/ plastic mouse pad works fine, it sure is better than using the "matte photo" finished surface of my desk.

I have the Razer ExactMat. If you like the feel of the mouse gliding on a particular surface, I would say it's beneficial.

The ExactMat gives you a nice "slick" feeling on the "speed" side. But I only use it if the desk/table I'm on is not a good mousing surface.

I've got my Razer Death adder mouse, use it heavily for gaming, and i have not seen the need to use a mousepad yet.

Razer Copperhead, don't need a mousepad either, thats the difference between gaming mice and mice.

currently i am using a gel mouse pad. I compared its performance to a gaming pad i had and it isn't worth the extra money to buy the gaming pad. The gel pad also feels comfortable compared to the gaming pad with no wirst support.

I seriously doubt a gaming pad is going to improve your performance in a game. Just get a nice laser/optical mouse and you're good. I just use my desk surface. It's black, wood, and works perfectly fine.
